The safe and efficient operation of a construction hoist (also known as a personnel and material hoist or rack-and-pinion elevator) fundamentally depends on its meticulous installation. Given their critical role in vertical transportation on building sites, a precise and professional installation process, coupled with strict adherence to safety protocols, is paramount. This procedure involves several distinct phases, each with its own set of critical considerations.
The installation of a construction hoist involves the following steps:
Determine the installation location — Install the base — Install the foundation standard section — Install the hoist cage — Install the drive system — Install the perimeter guardrail — Install the lower limit switch, lower speed reducer, and lower limit switch, etc. — Test the machine — Raise the standard section — Install the wall brackets — When raising to the desired installation height, install the top section and limit switches — Test the limit switches of all parts of the machine.

Important considerations during installation include:
First, determine the construction hoist elevator installation location and install the base. Specifically, calculate the distance between the elevator’s center point and the outer edge of the building. This distance is generally required to be between 3 meters and 3.5 meters. If using small wall brackets, the distance should be between 1.8 meters and 2.1 meters. After determining the center point, secure the base. The positioning of the center point must comply with the requirements of the user manual. The foundation must have drainage measures.
Second, install the perimeter guardrails. When installing the guardrails, install the corresponding mesh panels at the required positions. Secure the mesh panels to each other and to the base using bolts, ensuring a firm connection.
Third, install the construction hoist base sections. Connect the standard sections to the base and to each other using bolts. Remember to install position pins between the standard sections.
Fourth, when installing the construction hoist cage and transmission system, ensure that the lifting slings are securely connected. Keep the lifted object as level as possible to facilitate installation.
Fifth, when jacking up the wall-mounted sections and standard sections, pay attention to vertical alignment and the security of bolt connections.
Sixth, during the overall machine commissioning, all limit switches and mechanical interlocks must be effective.
The most important consideration is the safety of the installation crew. Any work conducted more than 2 meters above ground level is considered high-altitude work. Safety measures such as hard hats, safety harnesses, and warning ropes must be strictly enforced.
