The suspended cradle safety lock is a dedicated mechanical emergency braking device that forms an integral part of ZLP suspended access platforms. It is a mandatory safety component for all construction hoists.
While various models exist—with or without mounting plates, single/double rollers, spring‑pad type, centrifugal type, etc.—they are all installed in the uprights at the upper ends of the platform’s side frames, directly above the rope entry into the hoist. Their primary function is to prevent serious incidents in the event of hoist rope failure, brake system malfunction, or excessive platform tilting beyond the critical angle.
The most widely used type is the spring‑pad safety lock. It consists of a sturdy steel housing containing brake pads that engage the safety rope, and a spring‑loaded lever that interacts with the hoist rope via rollers. In normal operation, the tension of the hoist rope (supporting the elevated platform) acts on the lever, compressing the spring and releasing the brake pads, so the safety rope moves freely. If the hoist rope breaks or the platform tilts beyond the limit, the pressure on the lever disappears, the brake pads return to their locked position, and they firmly clamp the safety rope—instantly stopping the platform.

- SAL Centrifugal Safety Lock: Centrifugal triggering structure, locks the wire rope automatically when the platform falling speed exceeds 22m/min, standard matching for light & medium load suspended platforms such as ZLP250/ZLP500/ZLP630.
- Common Standard: Both share the same locking distance and allowable cable deflection angle, consistent installation matching requirements.
